Surgical Missions
For over ten years, The Little Wings Foundation has provided quality orthopedic care for children in challenging humanitarian situations in the Middle East. Regular missions throughout the year have changed the lives of many children who cannot access the critical care they need to live a fully functional life. Providing children with the means to develop physically alongside their peers enables a much brighter social and economic future. By mobilizing a specialist, volunteer-based team of surgeons, nurses, and physiotherapists, we embark on missions of between 4 and 10 days, assessing and treating as many children as possible. From coordination to post-operative care and follow-up, The Little Wings Foundation is fully committed to every child.
The Charity has conducted surgical missions mainly in the West Bank and Gaza but also in Turkey/Syria, Haiti, and Eritrea. Over the last few years, our focus has been assisting the children of Gaza, working at the European Gaza Hospital in Khan Younis, in Southern Gaza. -
GAIN
GAIN (Gaza Amputee International Network) was initiated in 2024 by The Little Wings Foundation in response to the catastrophic number of children suffering amputations during the conflict in Gaza. As reported by CNN in January 2024, an average of more than ten children per day have lost one or more limbs, creating a generation-altering crisis. In the resource-poor environment of Gaza, where even basic surgical care is a challenge, the long-term rehabilitation for these children is virtually nonexistent.
An overwhelming need for prosthetic devices, wheelchairs, and lifelong care is anticipated for years to come. Without the ability to move independently and attend school, these children face a future of dependency, with limited opportunities for growth and development. The GAIN project is a direct response to this urgent need, empowering children by providing access to prosthetics and comprehensive support wherever possible, thereby restoring mobility, hope, and the chance for a fulfilling future.

Education & Training
The Little Wings Foundation has been instrumental in advancing pediatric orthopedic surgical standards and promoting education for a more sustainable outcome. We foster active learning through close collaboration with local medical staff. We believe in mutual exchange to enhance care quality and share valuable insights for improved surgical outcomes and long-term patient care.

Treatment Abroad
In complex cases where local treatment is not feasible due to limited resources or the complexity of the condition, we collaborate with partners to facilitate travel abroad for optimal care. Past treatments have been arranged in the US, Switzerland, and the UAE.
Areas we serve
Our charity’s mission is focused on the needs of children in the Middle East. We have also responded to calls for assistance in the past when major catastrophes have affected the lives and health of children. In 2010, the charity was involved in a surgical mission to Haiti after a devastating earthquake. Treatment at the Turkish-Syrian border during the Syrian war was also organized in partnership with local charities.
Our focus, however, remains within the Middle East; historically, children in Palestine have suffered the consequences of unavailable treatment and the inability to travel abroad due to the travel restrictions in place. The need for quality pediatric orthopedic care in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank has made this area one of our core focuses.
